San Diego Art Show – Going Beyond Beds

For us at Hostelling International the hostel experience isn’t just about providing a bed to sleep in for the night. We are about sharing experiences, promoting cultural understanding and being a positive active member of the communities we live in.

A great example of this is going on at our Downtown San Diego hostel, where on the 18th of September 2011 they will be hosting an art show called Hostel Takeover. The staff from the hostel are inviting the community both locally and the international travellers they regularly meet to learn more about the local artists from the community.

More than 50 San Diego artists will be displaying their work along with live music, interactive art, video art, craft, fashion and jewellery. The event is set to be a great community experience that brings people together with audiences they may not have previously had the chance to meet.

The Hostel Takeover event is a monthly art exhibition so if you miss this one don’t worry, there will be more. The Downtown San Diego hostel also keeps visual art in their common room area and in the hallways for the rest of the month so no matter what time you visit you will be able to appreciate the unique nature of the local community. Much of the artwork is up for sale to feel free to purchase something, perhaps as souvenir of your experience in the USA.

For more information about this event visit their facebook page or if you would like to experience this hostel for yourself then book your stay here. I am sure they will be happy to see you there.
