Happy Canada Day!

Canada Day Celebrations‘Canada Day’ is the national day of Canada, a state holiday celebrating July 1, 1867 when the three British North American colonies of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and the Province of Canada were united into the one great country, Canada. Affectionately known as ‘Canada’s Birthday’, it is a day of celebration throughout the whole of Canada, and other parts of the world too.

Canada Day Celebrations

Many communities will have been preparing for this special day well in advance and typical outdoor events include festivals, carnivals, air shows, firework displays, open-air concerts and general merry-making throughout the whole day. It’s no surprise that the nation’s capital Ottawa, Ontario and its famous Parliament Hill will be a place for great celebration, as it is every year. Popular anniversary events include large music concerts, a flypast by the Snowbirds (Canada’s aerobatics flight team) and Queen Elizabeth II has also been known to turn up on occasion.
