Cycling Scenic Routes Through The Netherlands With HI Hostels

Venice Of The North, Amsterdam 

Cycling around Amsterdam and its suburbs is a delightful way to experience the unique charm and beauty of the city that never sleeps, especially this year as it is celebrating its’ 750th anniversary! Settle in to the sustainable, recently renovated Stayokay Amsterdam Stadsdoelen, a fantastic central base from which to enjoy the city to is full. Noordwijk, A Coastal Paradise

From the city to the beach, heading towards Noordwijk, the more active of you could cycle the scenic route, approximately 50 kilometres. Passing through quaint villages long the Amstel River, plenty windmills too, then maybe take a rest in Amsterdamse Bos. This large park with lakes is a great picnic spot! Set off again for the colourful flower fields of Bollenstreek, before the last few kilometres to Noordwijk. Once here, check-in to Stayokay Noordwijk and relax! Surrounded by dunes and forest, lose yourself in this oasis of peace. Texel, A Sustainable Haven

Academic Heart Of The Netherlands, Utrecht

Many cyclists take the route from Amsterdam to the medieval city of Utrecht, about 50 kilometres, through a mix of urban and rural landscapes. On arrival in Utrecht you will find a hip, trendy and beautifully preserved historical university city, with awesome eateries, chill terraces, cute cafes, and shops galore. You have the option of 2 hostels in the area,  Stayokay Utrecht Centrum is in the heart of the city, the perfect base to enjoy the city vibes but do make the most of their whole list of events to ensure you have an unforgettable stay! Stayokay Utrecht Bunnik sits just 5km from the city centre, in a forested area on the banks of the Kromme Rijn. There are several restaurants and a bar in the hostel. From here you can follow the cycle route to Woudenburg, travelling through rolling hills, stylish country estates, winding paths, picturesque villages, dense forests and beautiful dune and heathland areas.
