From New Zealand to Argentina: A Big Blog Exchange adventure part 4

The Big Blog Exchange (BBE) is a Hostelling International competition that gives bloggers the chance to swap lives and blogs with each other around the world for 10 days.  In the fourth part of our series of interviews with the BBE 2013 winners, Katherine Kearsley tells us how the competition gave her the opportunity to learn how to dance the tango in Buenos Aires and see the spectacular Iguazu Falls.

What were the biggest highlights of the exchange?

Learning to tango dance in Buenos Aires, seeing the spectacular Iguazu waterfalls from both the Argentinian and Brazilian sides and a wine tour by bicycle in Mendoza.

Has the BBE changed you?

Not changed me but made me realise that I’m still the same. I haven’t done much backpacking for quite a few years now so was a little apprehensive. I loved the experience though and realised I’ll still talk to anyone and everyone given half the chance.

Did the experience change your views about travel?

Every time I travel I learn new things or experience something amazing and Argentina was no exception. It’s such a beautiful country and I can’t wait to go back and explore more of it one day.

What advice would you give to someone thinking of entering?

Do it. It was an awesome experience. I never thought for one second I’d win, but I did and the trip was fantastic.

Would you have done anything differently looking back?

I definitely loved getting the chance to meet my exchange partner Rosario. I think this should be something that everyone should get to experience. Otherwise I loved the whole trip, just wish I’d had more time to see other parts of Argentina. It would have been good to catch up with more bloggers there too.

Sum up the BBE in three words:

Bringing people together.
