Slovenia: Green, Active, Healthy!

Slovenia has been an inspiration to many seekers of active lifestyle that preserves health. It has also been discovered by many great athletes from Europe and the world! During the Olympic Games the presentation of Slovenia as a green, active and healthy tourist destination has a special meaning.

Tourism and sports have always been tightly connected, frequently also dependant on each other. Slovenia as a tourist destination is being presented with the slogan/theme ‘Slovenia – green, active, healthy’. This theme was formed in cooperation with Slovenian athletes and substantially corresponds to the presentation within the framework of the Olympic Games.

The sports achievements of our Olympic athletes – naturally we all cheer them on – strongly contributes to better recognising Slovenia. The presentation of Slovenia and Slovenian tourism is carried out in London during the Olympic Games within the framework of a specially rented pub, Team Slovenia London Pub. The equipment in the pub (posters, roll-ups, flags, etc.) is connected with the green, active, healthy theme and in accordance with the national tourist brand I feel Slovenia. The Team Slovenia London Pub will be open to all visitors who will have the opportunity to “feel Slovenia” in the pub.

Slovenia acts as an inspiration for many seekers of the sort of active lifestyle that ensures good health and wellbeing, not least numerous elite athletes from around the world. Wherever you turn, everything is green. Wherever you go, expect a rapidly changing landscape that has few rivals anywhere in the world. The changing scenery presents enormous opportunities in terms of active recreation. In addition, Slovenia is laced throughout with rivers, making it among the richest European countries per capita in this regard.

To a majority of Slovenia’s visitors the options for outdoor activity represent a genuine discovery in the most diverse, but always unmistakably green, landscapes. Slovenia has the Julian Alps with their ski slopes and other winter recreation areas, the sea with good wind for sailing amongst other sports, the Pannonian basin and picturesque valleys for cyclists and underground Karst wonders and original limestone gorges for the more daring sportsperson in search of new experiences. Golf courses invite you to explore the country in all its regional and cultural diversity. In winter, ski slopes provide the canvas for a range of exciting leisure pursuits.

Slovenia is the land of tourism dedicated to preserving natural beauty. A large part of Slovenia is designated as protected. Fantastic experiences are possible even on the edges of Triglav National Park, one of the oldest such parks in Europe, or on the edge of Solčavsko with the Logarska dolina Landscape Park. Both regions have been awarded European Destination of Excellence (EDEN) status.

Along the coast, relax and regain your strength thanks to the Mediterranean climate and the riches of the Adriatic Sea or, alternatively, revive your spirit in one of the many spa and wellness centres throughout the country.  The basis for our spas, which offer medical prevention, remedial and numerous attractive alternative programs for the preservation of wellbeing is the abundance of natural thermal springs.

Relaxation feels best after exploration of natural and cultural splendors, which are close by every Slovenian spa. The pleasure is further intensified by Slovenian cuisine and wines. They help us restore our strength for new challenges and activities that every day brings in Slovenia.

Feel the green, be active and find the ways to health in Slovenia!
