A great group of backpackers staying at Brisbane City YHA took part in an Artistic Jamboree on the rooftop to celebrate the opening of the new Matisse: Drawing Life exhibition at Brisbane’s Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA)
Up for grabs was a complimentary double pass to the exhibition for the judged best work of the day! A plethora of equipment; easels, paints, charcoals, pencils and our gracious volunteer models were used to create some inspiring works.
One of the life models included the bubbly personality of Best Job in the World Winner and Global Ambassador for Tourism Queensland, Ben Southall.
Focus and concentration wore heavily on the brows of all the participants as they wrangled with their tools as they crafted their works. The beautiful Brisbane skyline and river backdrop with GoMA in full sight played as another inspiration.
The lucky winner was Andrea Putica, a first time artist and current psychology student, who was visiting Brisbane for the first time. Her use of line and colour greatly impressed the judges!
Honourable mentions went to Andrew Liu for his life painting of Ben.
GoMA is a short 10 minute walk from Brisbane City YHA and is located directly across the Brisbane River at South Bank, a stones throw from the rooftop swimming pool.
