MCC Hostel Celje
MCC Hostel is located in a recently refurbished historical building that is highly efficient in the use of natural resources and ecologically sound. The youth hotel offers 42 beds in 11 rooms, each one theme-decorated by a group of artists to take you into a parallel universe of myths and legends from Celje’s history. You can be tucked to sleep by restless fish on the glittering surface of a lake, or use graphite to leave your mark in the room where you spent your best holiday ever, dress up as a real ninja, sample the spirit of the socialist past, or find out what in god’s name Alfred Nobel was doing in Celje.
The city of Celje is Slovenia’s central hub in many ways. It is the cultural, educational, and economic center of the region, and a gem of history in this part of Europe. The picturesque historical center invites you to discover the many secrets of the city’s colourful past. This dynamic city with a wide offer of cultural and culinary delights, sports activities, tradeshows and shopping opportunities, is an ideal starting point for trips to many scenic sights both nearby and farther away; the Celje castle and the Šmartinsko Lake are but two such examples. Visit Celje and make yourself at home.
MCC Hostel is located in the heart of Celje, right at the entrance to the city’s historical center; railway, coach, and bus station are only a minute’s walk away. Adding to convenience, there are two kilometers to the nearest highway exit and one kilometer to the fair and convention center.
There are five theme-decorated double rooms and two single rooms in the upper floor. Each room is uniquely designed and has its own story. All rooms come with an ensuite shower and wash basin; two of the double beds also have a balcony.
Furthermore, there are four dorms with six to eight comfortable beds in the mezzanine. Every room is decorated with elements of the myths and legends of Celje. The dorms are served by a shared bathroom with separate toilets, a dining and socializing area with a kitchen, and a laundry service room with a washing machine and a dryer. All rooms are equipped with a wash basin and a locker cabinet.
The shared socializing area with a kitchen, as well as the café in the ground floor and the sports park next to the hostel will welcome all guests. Wi-Fi internet access s provided in every room; there is also a cyber corner in the café. Guests are also offered free bike rental to make discovering the city and its surroundings easier.
Meals can be provided subject to prior arrangement. Breakfast can be served at the hostel while other meals are offered at the Trač restaurant and hotel Štorman nearby. You may also treat yourself to the exquisite culinary experiences of the restaurants in the historical center.
Conference and Seminar Facilities
Seminars or workgroup meetings can also he held at the hostel. There is a sixty-seat conference hall, a computer classroom with ten PCs, and two smaller conference rooms with 15 seats each. There is internet access in every room; if required, we can also provide a technician to offer full technical support. Catering service during seminars and conferences is also available.
Sports and Recreational Activities
The hostel also offers numerous options for sports activities. You may test your skill on the mini indoor climbing wall or work on your slacklining tricks, play volleyball or table tennis; kids will enjoy the trampoline. Working with other service providers in the vicinity, we can organize a game of paintball at the Šmartinsko lake, paragliding from Lisca hill, zorbing, zorb water walking, or a boat ride on the Šmartinsko lake, a night hiking trip with torches to Anski vrh or Celjska koča, wall climbing in Kotečnik, and bob cart rides. The park behind the hostel and the hostel’s café are a perfect venue for a picnic or a party for your group.
Cultural and Educational Events
In addition to a busy event calendar that includes concerts, workshops, travelogues, theatre plays, and stand-up comedy acts. In cooperation with schools of hospitality services, we also organize culinary evenings dedicated to various national or ethnic cuisines. We can also provide guided tours of the city, the castle, and the Roman underground ruins; workshops on Roman Celeia, Counts of Celje, and the Medieval Discoveries lasting one day or several days; tours to any destination in Slovenia; and tours of major cities and natural and cultural landmarks such as Logarska Dolina, Pohorje, or the Laško brewery.
