Piknic Electronik is a weekly summer celebration that combines the best of hedonism and discovery. Its mission is to democratize the world of electronic music and to highlight the innumerable talents of the local and international electronic scenes. Defined by its eclectic programming, which sometimes features classic acts and other times audacious newcomers – and always strives to mix up the two! – Piknic Electronik caters both to the advanced listener and the newcomer. It’s a veritable 101 course to all the different delineations of electronic music that we all love.
Unifying, positive, and family-oriented – here’s an idea for these modern times that helps you get the most out of Montreal’s summer weather while enjoying an incomparable view of the city and quality electronic music, all in a comfortable and warm environment.
Accessible by bike, metro, or car, you can even get there by boat! At five minutes from downtown, this veritable haven offers a positive alternative to the heat of the city, without having to leave it.
Outdoors lovers and electronic music fans are invited to visit the place de L’Homme in parc Jean-Drapeau every Sunday of the summer from May to the end of September, for a unique and bold weekly event.
PikniCubik an innovative twist on Piknic!
This upcoming September 3rd, 4th, and 5th, Piknic enthusiasts will have the pleasure of rediscovering a place de l’Homme completely transformed for PikniCubik. In addition to celebrating electronic music (and dance!), this mini-festival will honour several different art forms. On the menu: outdoor movie screenings, a photo exhibit and live art (painting and silkscreen printing) to the soundtrack of an exceptional musical program of which a section will be entirely dedicated to children.
Festival goers will also have the opportunity to revamp their wardrobe and music collection by swapping clothes and records. And last but not least, the chance to make a meaningful gesture by contributing in different ways to PikniCubik’s initiatives to donate funds to Leucan. All of these fresh new features will make this packed three-day event a Piknic unlike any other throughout the season.
HI-Montreal Hostel is in Piknic mode
Over the years, the HI-Montreal Hostel has been proudly partnering up with unique local events to show travelers what the real Montreal is all about. It’s the experience, the vibe, the lifestyle that will make you fall in love with the city. You’ve got to sit in a park, dance in the sun, sip your wine and listen to good music, like all other Montrealers do, to really feel the city. To get you to do all this, the hostel now brings groups to Piknic Electronik, sells tickets for the event at the front desk and offers a special discount to those who purchase the 3-day PikniCubik pass. You’ve seen the Olympic Stadium? Good. Now get your piknic on!
