Here at Hostelling International we do love a bit of nostalgia, so when we discovered that a former YHA (HI’s England and Wales network) member had put together a website full of photos and stories from his youth hostelling days in the 1950s and early 1960s we jumped at the chance to talk with him about his experiences.

This was a fantastic summer for the UK music scene, YHA and hostelling.
The Intermission Project, one of the UK’s most exciting, unsigned bands, joined YHA for a road trip of a lifetime. Setting off from London, the band and Rosie (the coolest VW van) weaved their way across South England for seven days. The talented fellas (Jim, Alex and Charlie) stayed at five YHA hostels, took part in adrenaline fuelled activities and played live sessions at three stunning YHA locations.
