Share your love for travelling Europe on European Tourism Day
The beginning of December brings many treats for European travellers: romantic layers of frost, cosy winter breaks, Christmas markets, perfect snowy terrain for ski holidays – and EUFED’s European Tourism Day on December 1st.
This year, the celebration of all things travel in Europe presents a great opportunity for you to get involved and show your love for travelling Europe. Our hostels are pulling out all the stops with events, activities and promotions which reflect their individual characters and cultures.
HI Slovenia has launched a photo contest, with the many entries capturing the many reasons why people love exploring the continent.
Super cool Youth Hostel Celje located in the centre of this city has a fascinating history surrounding it, and the hostel is inviting guests on a tour to explore the building’s myths and legends, along with a demonstration of medieval fighting in front of the hostel, allowing guests to try their hand at ancient chivalry themselves and become a knight for a while.
Small town Radlje ob Dravi hostel is going big and spanning the whole continent through diverse free programs enabling you to travel, taste and feel Europe from their Youth Culture Centre.
Our friends in Spain are holding a special contest inviting you to write about your favourite city in Europe, naming the nearest HI hostel for a chance to win a stay there. Winners get two free HI memberships and two lots of travel insurance, so they can enjoy their next trip to Europe with a friend or significant other, along with a choice of the following prizes:
- 2 ALSA bus tickets (the main bus company in Spain)
- 1 Spa treatment for two people in Panticosa Spa (Huesca, Spain)
- 2 tickets for Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum of Madrid (Madrid, Spain)
- 2 tickets for Museum Picasso Málaga (Málaga, Spain)
- 2 tickets for Altimara Museum (Cantabria, Spain)
If you’re staying at one of our HI hostels in Belgium, and you love travelling in Europe (who doesn’t), you may be asked to get involved in a creative photo shoot, and if you’re camera shy, you can write a message on what you love about travelling in Europe, and add it to a pin board to share with fellow travellers.
