Two new hostel openings in awe-inspiring Norwegian locations

The summer season is just around the corner, and Hostelling International Norway (HI-Norway) is pleased to add two new exciting hostel destinations to its national network of 75 hostels – one in culturally-rich Trondheim and one in the wild and beautiful Sunnmøre Alps.

Bjørkehornet

Trondheim is the third largest city in Norway, buzzing with life, good cafes and restaurants, and cultural highlights. Our newly opened hostel, Trondheim Vandrerhjem Rosenborg is ideally located in a quiet neighborhood with the city centre easily accessible by bus in less than 10 minutes. This modern hostel offers spacious and simple accommodation with a variety of facilities to suit the needs of every traveller. Choose from rooms with or without private bathrooms or pick a self-catering apartment. The hostel has two guest kitchens, two TV rooms perfect for relaxing and two laundry rooms, ensuring that there is plenty of room for all the guests to comfortably use the hostel amenities. And as a bonus, breakfast is included in the price of each booking.

Trondheim Vandrerhjem Rosenborg is a great starting point to discover historic Trondheim, the river Nidelven and the stunning Trondheimsfjord. You can also expect a lively nightlife and lots of fun events taking place all over the year. To immerse yourself in the local culture, join the Olavsfestdagene Festival swarming with theatrical performances recreating the Middle Ages, games and stalls packed with great food and local crafts.

Looking for a perfect activity break? Then head to our second new addition Hjørundfjord Hostel Bjørke. Bjørke is a village at the head of the Hjørundfjord in Ørsta municipality, Western Norway. The hostel is located in the middle of the Sunnmøre Alps, an undiscovered natural beauty spot with great opportunities for summit hikes, fishing and fjord cruises. Experience the heritage of the region, its food traditions, local beer brewing and the production of goat meat and mutton; view both wooden buildings from the Middle Ages and grave findings from the early Iron Age (600 AD). Bjørke is often dubbed ‘the cultural village’, due to the creativity and enthusiasm of the locals. At the hostel you can relax in bright and pleasant rooms, all with ensuite bathrooms. Enjoy hostel’s pool on Tuesdays and Thursdays, or make an appointment to use it any other day.
