Say HI to a new YHA hostel in Brighton

YHA, the national youth hostel association for England and Wales, and part of the Hostelling International network, are taking over the former 4 star Royal York Hotel in Brighton. YHA are transforming this stunning building into an impressive 176-bed hostel. The historic building is currently undergoing a sympathetic refurbishment that recognises the iconic building’s history as well as the YHA brand. The new hostel is in a fantastic location, just a stone’s throw from Brighton Pier and shopping district, The Lanes. YHA Brighton will open in October 2014, but bookings are being taken now, so don’t miss out on being one of the first to visit!

Once complete, the former Royal York Hotel will boast a fully refurbished ground floor with fabulous social spaces, a conference and meeting room and redesigned reception and bar area. As well as a restaurant, YHA Brighton will also offer self-catering facilities with a dedicated dining area. All bedrooms will have en-suites, with the third floor of the building being maintained as double bedrooms, suitable for families. The room configuration will ensure that YHA Brighton provides great value and friendly accommodation for all types of travellers. Two-bed rooms start from as little as £45, four-bed family rooms are from as little as £65 per night and beds in shared rooms are from £14.50 per night.

Caroline White, Chief Executive of YHA (England and Wales) said, “The transformation of the Royal York Hotel building into a youth hostel not only brings it back into use but is an excellent use for such an historic and beautiful building. It brings life to the former hotel ensuring its long-term viability in Brighton. YHA is transforming the feel and energy of the Royal York Hotel building whilst ensuring its history is fully respected. Our refurbishment not only maintains the building’s heritage but brings it back into use for many more generations of local people and tourists to enjoy. We want to make sure that we continue to have world class hostels in fantastic locations and to make sure that as many people as possible know about what a great time they can have when they stay with us. We expect hundreds of young people to experience this fabulous property and the city of Brighton every year.”
