Win an Irish adventure escape

Adventure is closer than you think!

As 2014 is the Year of Adventure in Ireland, An Óige – The Irish Youth Hostel Association, has officially launched Craic ‘n’ Crash – their new Adventure Events team. You may not have considered Ireland for a budget activity-based holiday but don’t underestimate the endless possibilities of the Emerald Isle for enjoying exciting, adrenaline-fuelled sports such as surfing, rock-climbing, mountain-biking and abseiling.

Craic is the Irish Gaelige word for fun, and fun is most certainly guaranteed on one of these jam-packed trips, followed by a relaxing night’s sleep when you crash at one of our hostels! Craic ‘n’ Crash organise budget activity events in 21 different locations for the 18-35 age group in some of the most stunning places in Ireland. Their packages are ideal for adventurers, those wishing to meet new people, nature-lovers and sport enthusiasts who want more from their travels than just hitting the pub.

To officially launch Craic ‘n’ Crash, An Óige has put together a video highlighting just some of the activities at one of its main five star hostels – and they are offering you the chance to win, not one, but two free places on the Connemara Hiking Adventure in the Twelve Bens at the Ben Lettery Hostel this June. To enter the competition, all you have to do is watch the video here or on the An Óige Facebook page and leave a comment telling them where the video is set and what your favourite outdoor adventure activity is.

Cycle through lush forests

Aside from the competition, there are some amazing activity breaks coming up over the next few months that you should take a look at before it’s too late! Run by experienced, qualified instructors, using local activity providers, as well as fantastic hostel accommodation there is great value to be had! The team ensures that prices stay within your budget and range from €60 – €130 per person for a weekend break. This includes all of your activities, all meals and usually at least two nights stay in an An Óige hostel.

There are a variety of packages on offer, including a Connemara Adventure Cycle complete with cycling, kayak-floating, pier-diving, lake-swimming, rock-climbing and castle-touring AND a stay at The Connemara Hostel; set in the heart of Connemara overlooking the Killary – Ireland’s only fjord. Or if you fancy taking part in the Gaelforce Adventure Race in Donegal at the end of June, there’s a special package designed for the cyclist-enthusiast which includes a stay at our five star Errigal Hostel.
