Hostelling International has made it through to the finals of the Hertfordshire Business Awards in two categories.
HI’s Big Blog Exchange has been shortlisted as a finalist in the innovation category and Hostelling International Groups – which is run by the International Group Scheme – is up for international business of the year.
The event, which is open to all businesses within the county, is run by the Archant media group and is Hertfordshire’s biggest awards event attracting hundreds of applications from all types of sectors.
The winners will be announced at a gala dinner on 28 November at Knebworth House.
Marketing manager for HI Groups Sam Newby-Ricci said: “It is really great that the work being done locally to promote group travel to our hostels around the world has been recognised as being worthy of selection by the judges.
“We know that by offering affordable accommodation which meets certain strict criteria that world travel becomes an experience for all types of groups. And one which we hope they will want to experience time and time again.”
The Big Blog Exchange, the largest blogging competition in history, saw 16 bloggers swap lives, countries – and blogs.
Brianda Lopez, project manager of the Big Blog Exchange, said: “It’s great that this innovative competition has been recognised. We really believe that by understanding other cultures we can prevent big conflicts.
“The Big Blog Exchange attracted more than 1,170 entrants from 72 countries, including some from Hertfordshire itself.”
